About Ben Jacobs
Ben Jacobs is a Senior Football Correspondent for GiveMeSport and a freelance sports broadcaster. He is also a Premier League commentator for talkSPORT and their Saudi football correspondent.
Ben specialises in the business of sport as well as transfer news. He has been fortunate to cover multiple World Cups and European Championships, and has also produced a feature-length film called Equal Playing Field following the journey of 60 female footballers who staged the world's highest football match on top of Mount Kilimanjaro in order to help promote gender equality.
Ben was educated at Oxford University where hestudied English before moving into sports journalism.
Favorite Sports Team
Ben is a life-long Leicester City fan and was fortunate enoughto report on the 2015/16 season as theFoxes won the Premier League. The trophy lift on the final day of that season against Everton was spine-tingling. Ben also helped produce a documentary on Leicester's fairytale for beIN Sports.
Many of Ben's favourite Leicester moments came during the Martin O'Neill era, which saw Leicester win the League Cup twice and face Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Cup. He was also once mascot for the club in a game against Notts County.
Favorite Player
Ben's favourite footballer is N'Golo Kante, having found his work rate so endearing to watch. Kante is also incredibly humble and always plays with a smile. He is a brilliant footballer and role model.
Ben has also always had a soft spot for Roberto Mancini and Esteban Cambiasso, two players who didn't stay at Leicester for too long but nonetheless won over the fan base quickly–especially Cambiasso, who remains a cult hero among Foxes' supporters.
Favorite Sports Moment
Unsurprisingly, nothing tops Leicester winning the Premier League title for Ben, but he will also always remember watching Lionel Messi win his first ever World Cup in Qatar. Morocco's run to the semi-finals was special, too, and Ben was struck by their incredible fans in Doha.
Away from football, Ben was fortunate to be on site for the so-called 'Miracle at Medinah', and Europe's 2012 Ryder Cup triumph ranks among his favourite stories covered as a journalist.
